Short Films

Since 2000, Romain Claris has directed short films selected and awarded at nearly one hundred international film festivals. His films — sensitive and contemplative — weave together nature, myth and emotion, taking the viewer on a journey at the crossroads of beauty, time and destiny.

L'Eau de la Terre
Freely inspired by around thirty works by great masters including Qi Baishi, Gao Xingjian, Shoda Koho and Katsushika Hokusai, Chloé Guêze paints this Oceanian tale about an ordinary little frog who wanted to become extraordinary.
Les Cousins des Nuages
In Asia, elephants are believed to be the cousins of clouds. A one-minute poetic film, painted on a Buddha Board and shot on a mobile phone.
Ici Commence
An oratorio, a nautical chart: a short film. A crossing — of the sea between lands, from horror toward the first glimmers of hope. Created for the first edition of Un Trésor à la Carte, organised by the Watever-Seatizens association, whose auction proceeds supported SOS Méditerranée and the SNSM.
Voici que la Nuit — Trailer
Five young sleeping women. An old man. Six nights. A meditation on beauty, tenderness, old age and death. A freely interpreted variation on Yasunari Kawabata's novel The House of the Sleeping Beauties (Nemureru Bijo).
Omikuji
In Japan, the omikuji predicts the chances of a wish coming true, of finding love, or of fortune in health and life. A delicate reflection on destiny and hope.
Painting with the Dragonfly
A poetic film. Watch the dragonfly take flight, for the harmony of colours in motion — then it's your turn to paint.
Choice of Deepness
A staircase above the sea. French selection for the World One Minutes, Beijing 2008, as part of the Olympic Games cultural programme.
Le Temps mange la voix et les mots
A man juggles. Suddenly, nothing seems false anymore. French selection for the World One Minutes, Beijing 2008, as part of the Olympic Games cultural programme.
